The owners purchased an older lake cabin on Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with an existing deck that was failing. They hired a local handyman to rebuild it. Early into the project, it became clear the work lacked proper planning and used unsafe construction methods. The owners paused the project and contacted us to step in.
We re-engineered the entire project to safely support a two story wrap around deck built on a steep, rocky hillside. This included oversized footings and structural plans designed to exceed load requirements. We removed all prior work and installed new footings by hand, using creative solutions to work within the terrain. We were able to salvage and reuse the decking material already on site, reducing waste and cost.
